Northern Health Guidelines If you want to sell ANY food products at the market, read ’em too. You must have any required food permits in place before you can vend at the market. Contact the Environmental Health Officer in Smithers at 847-6400 with any questions about Health Authority requirements.

S/he will confirm that your products are a good fit with the market and let you know when you can start attending. Products which are not a clear fit with the Regulations, all Ready-To-Eat foods, and vendors that come from further than 100kms, all need Market Board approval before you can vend. This may take up to two weeks, so plan ahead.
Hazelton Farmers’ Market Society Membership All Vendors must be Members (except ‘Casual Vendors’, see below), bring this form and the annual dues* to your first market. We are a Member run market; your membership is your invitation to have your say at meetings, run for the Board, and get involved to continue building our great community market.
‘Casual Vendors’ may sell at up to three (3) markets per year without Society Membership being required; the ‘Casual Vendor’ stall fee applies*. You may choose to purchase a Membership and become a regular Vendor at any time.
Market Day! Plan on arriving about an hour before market start time, the Manager will allocate a stall and show you the ropes. Stall spaces are 10′ X 10′, and a suitable canopy is highly recommended for visibility (as well as fending off any passing showers). Canopies must be secured against wind, bring weights. You also need to have a sign with your farm/business name, and any permits or certifications must be displayed (per Market Regulations). The Manager will collect the weekly stall fees* near the end of the market.

*Current Market Fees: $20 for required Annual Membership with the HFMS, then $10 Stall Fees per market attended. ‘Casual Vendor’ stall fee is $15 per market.
The Hazelton Farmers’ Market is a vendor-run market by the not-for-profit Hazelton Farmer’s Market Society. All dues and fees collected go directly to the costs of running the market, including liability insurance, promotions, special events, musicians, a part-time manager, and membership in the B.C. Association of Farmers’ Markets. All members receive the Society’s year-end financial statements at the AGM, and have a say in the next year’s budget and operational decision.
